SGTA is expanding

I'm pleased to announce that SGTA will be expanding with the creation of 2nd clan called SGTA2.

SGTA2 will simply be an extension to SGTA, for all intents and purposes it will be the same as SGTA. Same rules, classes, chat, forum, TS and applications.

We will see some of old SGTA members returning to SGTA to help running SGTA. Wasp will be a Deputy Commander and in charge of SGTA2 this will mean he will hold Commander rank in SGTA2, but this is just in-game and for SGTA purposes he will be a Deputy Commander. BoosB will be transfer to SGTA2 also.

During the next few days me and Wasp are going to pick up some members that will be transferred to SGTA2, so we will have a solid base of members, making it easier for new students to join. We will post a list later this week. So if you notice your SGTA tag missing, don't panic, you will be invited to SGTA2 after your 2 day cooldown period has ended.

Creation of a second clan will also mean that we will be more strict in the use of Academy HQ chat. It is mandatory. There is no other way we can keep up the communication in-game with 2 clans. The Academy HQ topic will be changed to reflect this.

Congrats to all involved - it's a further vindication of the worth and value the academy is adding to the game.  

This is the effective new staff system as detailed by the 'Supreme Commander' (as he proudly declared himself :3). Hope this puts more clearance on any confusion over how the staff system works now.

EUROBrit = Supreme Commander
Ding760 = Deputy Commander (Roving - ie in effect in both clans)
Vallu = Deputy Commander SGTA
Wasp = Deputy Commander SGTA2 (though for WoT purposes he will be Commander)

Very good things to read. Well done to leadership for making something so worthwhile. Your forums are great and the players I have met so far are a real pleasure to play with.

Congrats on reaching this milestone!  The need to expand is a clear sign of the success you have achieved with this academy, well done.

First of all congrats to the academy!

So, which clan is the most 'bad assed' SGTA or SGTA2? I think a good old fashioned fight needs to take place to decide this long asked, and much argued question  

I see where this is going... We 'll start doing counts in TCs now...

BTW SGTA=Sith Global Tank Academy.Also fights between the two clans could happen specialy historical battles

I know it was said in jest, but.... why not? an after battle de-brief where both sides discuss the battle together could be very useful. Tactics used, whether succesful or not, could be scrutinised and tweaked as both sides are involved. This, id imagine, would be hugely beneficial for the commanders involved.

As long as the Field Commanders are scored and compared.

While I was on the waiting list to join SGTA I wanted to suggest that a SGTA-2 would be opened, since there were obviously a lot of people wanting to join. Before asking, I looked on the forum to see if that was already addressed somewhere and somewhere I read that there was no SGTA-2 because it would spread the trainers too thin. That made sense, so I never asked for the SGTA-2 thing.
Just for the sake of interest, what inspired this change of mind?

I have full faith in the commanders and I have no doubt that both clans will run equally well. The Academy HQ will become EVEN MORE important now though!
My only concern is for future CW(-like) activities. I know, SGTA's purpose is not to be a CW oriented place, but I really enjoyed our CW experience and I'm sure that goes for others too. Apart from being enjoyable, I also think it sped up the learning curve for some of us (me amongst them). So I hope we'll still be able to join in CW events if there ever are some of them again.

Well the idea was kind of in our heads at the time, but we where not sure if we where going to implement it and how, we therefore prefered not to make any moves before sorting everything out properly. We where discussing the idea on the staff meetings though.

What made us decide to go for it is that we had to choose between closing up the clan to new recruits with stricter selection criteria, or create more space to continue to be a clan "open to all". We chose the second.

A second clan as an idea is certainly attractive, but past experience has shown us that one must be really careful when undertaking such a venture, since it can go wrong and backfire in sooooo many ways...

The idea for 2nd clan has been around for months, since last year actually. We never did it back then for 3 reasons.

1) No real reason. We had a lot of inactive members, so space wasn't a problem.
2) We couldn't decide what kind of 2nd clan we should have. There was ideas to do more TC/CW focused clans for experienced students or newbie clan for tiers 1-4, among other ideas.
3) No staff for the 2nd clan. All the ideas we had at the time required at least 5+ active staff members in the 2nd clan alone, and for TC/CW clan they needed to be able to FC.

Since then things have changed.
Like Sapaki said, we had to make a decision. Being more strict or creating more space. We had a need for a 2nd clan now.
We decided if a 2nd clan would be created, it would be just an extension. More space for new students, nothing else.
This meant we didn't need as many staff members as they would only need to make sure everything is fine. We have since had more staff members join. And now we have couple of old members returning who will create the core of SGTA2.

Classes and TC will take few mins longer to organize, because you have to manually invite members. Otherwise it's the same. As for CW, we need to know if WG is going to make new CW Campaign for lower tiers before we even think of that. We will think of something when the time comes.
