Re: WoT Rip-off
I'm sort of impressed someone has managed to basically port WoT into the Unity engine and make it playable through a browser... but I predict it won't be long for this world, it is just such a straight copy/paste...

Ok. so does it say something good about the Unity engine or something bad about the Bigworld engine or both?

Re: WoT Rip-off
It probably says more good about Unity than the other thing, though obviously it has its' limitations. I actually played BSG Online for a little while until the bugginess forced me to quit, and it is very very good for something that works through a browser.CountOfTuscany wrote:PointyHairedJedi wrote:I'm sort of impressed someone has managed to basically port WoT into the Unity engine and make it playable through a browser... but I predict it won't be long for this world, it is just such a straight copy/paste...

BigWorld, well, I guess it saved WG a lot of time and money buying an off-the-shelf solution, but they're as aware of the limitations as anyone (which one can only assume was a primary driver in their acquisition of the company). The War Thunder engine in contrast was developed initially by Gaijin themselves, then spun off as a subsidiary, so as far as that goes they're in a much better position than WG - and comparing WT and WoWP, the difference is very noticeable in things like map sizes, graphics capabilities, and even some areas of gameplay.
