In Game Nickname: Arnold_Judas_Rimmer

Country: England

Age:31

Usable Languages: English ( a few words in german, polish, french)

Previous Clan: no clans

Favorite Type Of Tanks (Heavy, Medium, Light... ): ...I think I like medium tanks more. I am not sure yet.

Tanks Owned : ... t1 light tank, m7 medium tank, excelsior tier 5 heavy

Win Rate : ...64%

Match Played : ...221

How did You hear about SGTA?: from the forum world of tanks post made by ding and someone else.

Why are you applying to SGTA..... I have been watching my friend and playing his account for almost 3 months. He let me play tier 1 tanks and tier 2 tanks only. I decided to get my own account and am very much enjoying the game but I have hit a brick wall. I am struggling to understand the other maps and bigger tanks. I hope to learn to master each and every tank I play and to gain tactical insight into each and every encounter. I am looking for a community not just training. It is very important that I can be part of something bigger and I hope that not only can I learn much from this Academy but maybe I can in the future teach also.

I know you have many applications and are very busy. I am in no rush.

Thank you.

Hello,

I am the Admissions officer of the clan. Our new policy is that one needs to have at least 1 to 1.5 k battles prior to joining the clan, since most of the things that you can be taught here are applicable above Tier 4. Therefore my suggestion is that you get some battles under your belt, as many Tier IV and Tier V as you can put your hands on and PM me again to process your application.

Should you need anything else do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Sapaki

First coming chance, hug your friend for letting you get a good start in WoT.
I myself wish i hadnt rushed to Tier 5-6-7 just to hit the wall of skill.

With the interest in getting better, the target mentioned by Sapaki is not far away. Keep it up!
(and when winning 2/3's who can let the game go).

When choosing a line you should not worry too much about lower tier tanks, but rather get focused on tanks above Tier 8 in this line. Given the amount of exp required to unlock the tiers 8-9 and 10, these are the tanks you will be playing the most.

As a rule of thumb, the german line is quite difficult to play, and none of the enline tanks are CW material if you are into this. Main characteristic of this line are accurate guns, prety good armor, so-so mobility, bad gun depression. Tanks that stand out above tier 6 are VK3601, Tiger, KT, VK 4502, E-75 (the best german tank) and probably the new Leos but this is a question of playstyle.

The american line is a balanced line and most M110E are good tanks the E5 being the better one (from what I've heard because I only play german myself). Most tanks feature good gun depression, strong turrets and weak armors, making most of them ideal for hull-down style of play. Another characterisic of US tank line are the turreted TDs which play a lot differently than any other TD in the game. Tanks that stand out are the Hellcat, T 69, T-29-32-34, and T110.

The soviet line is a bit noob-proof, som find it a bit boring. Tanks are heavily sloped and well armored, they have no gun depression, accuracy is so-so, but they have good alpha damage. Tanks that stand out are the KV1-s, IS-3, IS-7, the later being somehow CW material.

The british line features good gun depression and good accuracy, a bit like an american-german hubrid. Cannot say which tanks are worth your while here.

The french line features tanks with good mobility, paper armor, and ofc autoloaders for some of them. Tanks that stand out are the ELC AMX (notorious scout), and all the autoloaders, although the style of play is quite different of how most tanks are played.

Chinese line, I have no info about it.

This is a BRIEF, and VERY generic overview of the lines. What I suggest is that you try to stick in 1-2 lines at most, work yourself at least up to tier 8 and see what your preffered playstyles is. Then, depending of whether you want to develop a new playstyle or if you want to capitalise on your skill in one particular playstyle, go for a specific tank you want to play.

Your playstyle will begin to emerge after 3-4 k battles imo. Feel free to contact any of our staff (including myself) on this issue when you see them online, it is much easier to get this advice oraly.

Calm down Ino lol.... if you gotta write in all caps at least make it short lol.

As an addition to Sapaki's advice. The Chinese line is not a line I would suggest anyone under 5000 battles go in to. The tanks have no gun depression and no armor except turret. They have average mobility and penetration but their main advantage is their firepower. Capable of decent alpha damage.

Chinese tanks are for experienced tankers only. Anyone who cannot command a USSR tank can forget about using the Chinese line.

ha ha.. thanks.. passion in that post.. something many in the game thus far are lacking tonight i feel like im surrounded by some sort of drones..

anyway KV1 is..... a warhorse! i just trundle along smashing the granny out of most things. The only major drawback I notice and being my first proper non test server go at a heavy is the fact that once you are commited to a flank.... you cant easily get back to help. This means I must make a good call at the start of the battle and often find myself goin to central positions so I can help either flank. This has the added bonus of putting me in position of mauling scouts which i love..

oh.. anyone got any tips on the gun? im using the stock gun and not sure if 122 or 85?

thank eee kindly..

I use the 85 on the KV-1, the 122 is just too inaccurate and situational (as much fun as it is to oneshot everything T4 and below Laughing ).

Application form. Empty still keen

Post  Arnold_Judas_Rimmer Sun Jul 07, 2013 2:07 am

Hello. not sure if anyone relevant will read this.. however if you do.. Hi again!

I am still keen to join SGTA.

I see I am on the waiting list.

I have dl and installed TS3 and have a working mic.

I have been taking part in tank companies most night with my KV1S with a clan called TUSH ( not sure if thats relevant but thats the name)

I understand my number of battles is not at the minimum level yet however I am very keen to at the very least listen in and take notes as it were.

I will join TS tonight and hope to platoon or join in in some capacity.

Oh and I would very much like help with light tanks such as t21 as I struggle to give my worth in battle

smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast

Be assured Arnold that the 'Applications' section of our forums is constantly viewed by staff in SGTA.

Also be assured that our admissions officer will see this soon.

Lastly, once you have reached the minimum required level of battles, simply state in this thread again you would like to join (pointing out you've reached the required amount of battles), and you will be accepted onto the waiting list.

Hope this reassured you Smile
