Hello and welcome to the Tier 7 Chinese heavy tank, the IS-2. True it is practically a Soviet vehicle that the Chinese used and gameplay-wise it is almost the same as the IS-1/2

Tank specs:
IS-2 Guide Is2stats

Upgrade tree:
IS-2 Guide Is2tree

Overview:
The IS-2 is relatively simple to upgrade as it does not need tracks in order to mount its best stuff, although it will need them if the players wants to mount modules.
It starts with a decent enough 100mm gun which works well and actually has some players that prefer it to the other options. Penetration is good, accuracy and aim time are better than the 122mm cannons, but still not quite impressive. Unfortunately, second option is quite debatable as an upgrade, but thankfully the final gun, a variant of the 122mm D-25T is what is usually preferred on the IS-2. It gives the IS-2 one hell of a punch and can help it slug it out from cover with other heavies or obliterate smaller enemies. Even so, its aim time, slow reload speed and bad accuracy are very serious drawbacks. Although not incredibly bad, the gun depression is not very good either.
Armour is technically lower in value than on the Soviet tank, but its sloped and 90mm thick all on the entire hull. This gives it good staying power against smaller tier vehicles and might actually bounce even same tier heavies at range. Lower hull is a weak spot though which means that the IS-2 players should make full use of the thick side armour and learn to slope themselves well.
Mobility on the Chinese tank is decent for a tier 7 heavy and with a good top speed and traverse speed, though the Soviet one is better overall due to a superior engine.
All in all, this vehicle plays as a brawler/slugger/ambusher that relies on extreme damage per shot and close combat in order to combat its prey where the pathetic aim time and accuracy don’t matter as much. Its a tank that also relies on good artificial sloping, cover and positioning.
Price: 1 300 000
Camouflage: Decent
Gun Elevation: -6°/+18°

Pros:
- Impressive damage per shot.
- A good bully tank.
- Good in stock configuration.
- Good overall armor.

Cons:
- Accuracy and aim time are very bad.
- Gun depression and rate of fire are unimpressive.
- Acceleration and hill climbing aren't very good.

Designation:
1.Warrior 2. Steel Wall 3.Brawler 4. Bully Tank 5. Flanker
The IS-2 is an excellent heavy assault tank and is a great brawler. Can also be very effective in an ambush.
Assault IS-2: Rammer; Enhanced Gun Laying Drive ; Ventilation
Support IS-2: Coated Optics; Rammer; Ventilation/ Camouflage Net

Crew:
1. Commander (also a radioman) IS-2 Guide Commandera
2. Gunner IS-2 Guide Gunner
3. Driver IS-2 Guide Driverhk
4. Loader IS-2 Guide Loaderx

*That on the bottom right corner should be real IS-2 1944.
90/90/60
Hull armour is actually decent. It can protect relatively (might still get penned if unlucky) well from about 142mm of penetration and 175mm HEAT penetration. Lower hull is a weak spot though, and should be protected as 110+ penetration guns do usually go through it. Side plating is nice and can help the Chinese slope itself artificially to get more protection.

Suspension:
IS-2 early / Max.capacity 46.10 / Turn speed 36 deg per sec
IS-2 late / Max.capacity 49.00 / Turn speed 38 deg per sec.

Like the Soviet IS, the Chinese does not need the improved suspension in order to mount turret and gun. Despite that it does help mobility, allows for the mounting of modules and the turning speed is quite good for a heavy tank.

Engine:
V-2-10 / 520 horse power / 12% chance of fire
12150L / 520 horse power / 12% chance of fire
12150LS / 580 horse power / 12% chance of fire

The first engine ain’t too bad for a stock tank, but should be upgraded quickly as it does not d othe IS-2 justice. Not sure what second engine does, but the last one is a noticeable improvement for the vehicle. It is still not comparable to the Soviet version, but at least it does grant some more mobility.

Radio:
9R-325
9RM- 525meters
A-220- 600meters

Second and best radios are good enough. Stock is quite bad and should be replaced ASAP.

Turrets:
IS-2 early
Armor: 100/90/90
Rotation: 28 degrees/second
View range: 350m
IS-2 late
Armor: 100/90/90
Rotation: 28 degrees/second
View range: 350m

There is barely a difference between the turrets. The second one is a slightly smaller target though. Both are not all that tough for a tier 7 tank, though it is not advisable to shoot at them on long ranges.

Guns:
100mm 44-100JT
RoF: 6,45
Penetration: 175/235/50
Average damage: 250/250/330
Accuracy (100m): 0,46
Aim time: 3,4 sec

Decent gun…for a stock vehicle. Unfortunately, it can not compare to the 100 D10T on the Soviet IS, as its accuracy is crappy aim time is very bad and its reload speed is not impressive. On the bright side, damage per shot and penetration are not too bad.

122mm 37-122JT
RoF: 4,29
Penetration: 175/300/61
Average damage: 390/390/465
Accuracy (100m): 0,48
Aim time: 3,4 sec

Bad gun! Inaccurate as hell, slow to aim and with pathetic RoF. I am against using it, just research it on your way to the D25-T

122mm D25-T
RoF: 4,88
Penetration: 175/300/61
Average damage: 390/390/465
Accuracy (100m): 0,46
Aim time: 3,4 sec

This feels like a real heavy tank gun! Damage for tier 7 is very good and it gives the IS-2 a really dangerous peek-a-boo style of gameplay. It should be noted that its accuracy, although slightly better than the 37-122JT is still VERY bad, and its aim time is by no means improved, though the RoF improvements are welcome. The penetration is good enough for a tier 7 heavy, though players should learn to use weak spots against stronger opponents. Way to use this cannon effectively is to try to stick at close ranges, move out from cover and annihilate the enemy, retreat back into cover whilst reloading and then repeat.
Premium ammo is HEAT which does not get the normalization bonus that APCR gets, but does not lose penetration with distance. With 300 penetration, it can shoot all T8 and most T9 vehicles with reasonable chances of penetrating even through a frontal plate. With aiming, it can also go right through T10 weak spots.

Comparison with its peers:

IS-2 vs AMX M4
The Chinese has superior damage per shot and tougher armor all around. The AMX does have superior penetration, accuracy and aim time.

IS-2 vs Tiger 1H
The Tiger is a lot more accurate than the IS-2 and comes with better penetration too. It does lose out in armour and damage per shot though. IS-2 can go faster than the German vehicle, but is not as fast at climbing hills or accelerating.

IS-2 vs Tiger 1P
The Tiger P is slower than the IS-2 and with worse side armour, though it front is a lot tougher, especially if at range. It comes with a gun with better accuracy and penetration, though inferior damage per shot.

IS-2 vs Black Prince
The Black Prince has better armour than the IS-2, but is quite a bit slower and less maneuverable. Both have comparable penetration (a little better on the Chinese) but whilst the Black Prince has a much higher rate of fire (and accuracy and aim time), the IS-2 has a lot more damage per shot.

IS-2 vs T29
The Chinese tank has a little better hull armour at the front, but much tougher sides. The US vehicle has superior turret armour and gun depression along with a gun with higher penetration and accuracy but worse damage per shot.

IS-2 vs IS
The Chinese has slightly better armour at the front and a little more health. It does have a higher top speed, but is actually normally slower and less agile than the Soviet tank due to a much weaker engine. Guns are pretty much the same.

Historical IS-2
Soviet IS-2 tanks were exported to China in the early 1950s and were used during the Korean War from 1950 through 1953. According to American reconnaissance data, at least four Chinese tank companies deployed in Korea had the IS-2 tanks, with five tanks in each company. The IS-2 tank was in service until the late 1950s. The production was discontinued due to a shortage of spare parts and the launch of the Type 59 project. A few IS-2 tanks were exported to Vietnam, where they fought in the final stage of the Indochina War of 1946-1954.

Lol but you are! Thanks for pointing that out, it's been fixed.

I'm just going to edit out the pictures in your post zed because it will slow down the page's download rate (too many pictures).
