Internet speed

Hello,
Does anyone know the (internet)speed requirement for playing WoT?
From the website I gather 1024 kbs, but that figure is based on the need to update the game client.
What speed would render the client "un-playable"?
Being behind a proxy sucks big time and at the moment the only way to play could be a mobile internet connection...

the only thing you should be worry most is packet lost ...
if you don't have packet lost  you can play it without problem .(i know some player in my country play this game with 128kb/s line ( 16 KB/s max speed download and upload )
the max upload and download the game   use is near 8 KB/s means if you have more than 10 KB/s speed it won't make any problem .

Aye....it's not the greatest of countries at the moment in my humble, ignorant opinion... but one day hopefully it'll change into whatever kind of state you guy wished for.

i live in a little village in oxfordshire, i only get 2mb. plays quite well for me

Okay, the laptop seems top be under control, getting about 35-38 fps. I can still try the "reduced textures mod"

Now for the internet speed I get a ping time of 120-170 ms, I think that should be improved. I will try with a webstick later (no hardware on hand here) to have a dedicated 3g line.
I can not find the packet loss since the connection is shared from my mobile phone....no clue why otherwise the ping takes "that long"

I am interested in this thread as my normal FPS is between 12 and 20 . So i am trying to see how best to improve on that .

can you please advise where i can find the reduced textures mod files ?

if you'll be using a phone data line then you'll always have a minimum of about 100ms latency, 120 is already quite impressive. It's just the current nature of data transmissions over the mobile telephone network.

The distance your signal travels (through air) is a lot longer and the channels available as well as bandwidth is less, especially in busy cell towers.

edit: 4G supposedly gives a 50% improvement on 3G latency-wise

That's sort of what I wanted to know, I will see if there is a way to improve a bit. it gives me a lead though!

@Anton, if you google "Wot reduced textures" or "compressed textures" you get enough results.
I haven't tried one myself, some seem to work though
