ArmA3 (was: ArmA II players?)
Are there any ArmA II players here, who would be interested in getting together for some decent cooperative games sometime?
I have a friend who used to be really good at making custom missions in Operation Flashpoint and he told me today he's gotten back into editing and is working on ArmA II missions. He's a very accomplished pen & paper RPG game master (by far the best I have ever played with), so I trust him to come up with some interesting stuff.

I remember trying the single player on friends pc when it came out, don't have fond memories. Is the co-op any different (better)?
Just checked on steam and it's quite cheap, so might buy if you can convince me it's a good idea

Not saying we can play to this level (or even get close to a 100 player game, lol), but this is what is possible:
https://youtu.be/sZWlbU-rzdM?t=2m44s (lot of other good videos on this Youtube channel)
If you still need to buy it, go for the Combined Operations pack, or at least get ArmA II, Operation Arrowhead and British Armed Forces (OA single player has a lot of armoured combat and in BAF single player you are commanding a mechanized infantry platoon through patrols....pretty nice campaigns). The PMC expansion is pretty crap and won't be needed for the custom missions.

I must have the DVD of ARMA II somewhere, I bought it a while ago but it was unplayable on my PC so I left it there. It must be the only game I ever bought and haven't played. I could give it another try when I have my new rig up and running.

Should run on your new rig easily. Especially if you feed the key into Steam and purchase the Operation Arrowhead expansion, which adds many engine optimizations as well.

I have been playing ArmA3 for the past week or so. The engine runs much smoother than ArmA2 ever did. Very good scalability.
Still up for ArmA2 though, if anyone else is. The vanilla and Operation Arrowhead campaigns are also playable in 4 player coop mode, which is nice.

I have also heard that Arma3 runs smoother than 2, and I would rether play this which takes place on an actual Greek island (the guys of Bohemia that where taking snapshots of the military installations on the island actually got arrested for espionage )

Tried out Arma3 and found out I'm a total noob in it. But it does run nicely. I just need some time to get used to it (too much bf3 I guess).
So if there will be any mp or co-op going for either of them, sign me up

You can find me on Steam under the same nickname
There will probably be some co-op going on this weekend in the afternoon. Ping might be a bit high (to Australia - I get around 300ms usually). The netcode seems pretty solid though, it is very playable. Last time I was in the co-pilot seat while the host was flying the chopper and it was still very smooth.4
Once I have upgraded my PC, I will start hosting some games too. Someone else in this clan bought it too yesterday, so hopefully we can get a nice little group going
I've found it helped me to play through the shooting range Challenges a couple of times to get used to moving around and shooting. Check out the Steam Workshop for the DUWS mod, it is a lot of fun (It is what we are playing co-op as well, though you don't need to install it to be able to play on a server running it).

I got it too!
My main issue with it is the intuitiveness - there is no clear guide on ie. menu-choices. You simply need to know that you must press F4 to select your fourth teammember, press 3 for combat-commands and then from there you might be able to read some stuff.
But i think it will be better once i get used to the controls - have only played it coop one evening so far, and we got our asses handed to us soooo much.

Yeah, they could do a better job with a tutorial. Normally this stuff is explained in the SP campaign. I think the dev team was rushed to push a release without campaigns.
Add me on Steam and I will try to get something organized. This game gets so much better when you have a decent group together!

I've created a Steam group for this. PM me on Steam if you want an invite.
