IS3 flicked off my shot
This is probably not news to a lot of you, but in last night's company battles I was facing another IS-3 that had fired and was in reload frontally in the city. I took aim at the nearest front plate, confident of penetration, but just as I fired he flicked the tank to the right and I hit the other more angled plate and it bounced. How he knew I was ready to fire I don't know, but it was a great little manouever from a good player and one I will be trying out at the next opportunity. If I have time, I can find it and I can be bothered, I may fraps this bit and post it to YouTube.
Re: IS3 flicked off my shot
He might not have *known*, but just guessing. He could probably see that you were aiming, so he knew that you were at least preparing to fire. Then it's quite simple: every second brings that moment closer. The fact that he wriggled JUST as you fired probably had a bit of luck in it, I think he was just trying to make it harder for you to aim.godjira wrote: How he knew I was ready to fire I don't know,
He might also have seen when you fired your last shot, in which case his guess became a lot more accurate of course. If he has a lot of matches played in an IS-3, he probably has a good feeling of how long the reload is.
If you had previously fired at HIM, then there are mods that will even tell you (if the client discloses it, i.e. it was not an unspotted target that hit you) who hit you and what his reload time is. I don't think that takes stuff like rammer/vent/BIA into account though.
Edit: About that movie: In random battles that could be "sheer luck" or "pure skill". Good playes can indeed do that with repeatedly good results. Wannabe-good players like me try it a lot and only get it right some times Unskilled players don't do it consciously but still get lucky when just manouvering around

As Gary Player said "the more I practice, the luckier I get".
It's a salient reminder not to sit still and wait for a shot to hit you.

What Iron said is most likely, I do it a lot myself. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
Or... He might have tried to give the T34 next to him more room to move.

Also, he did boost angling on right cheek (IS-3 point of view), but he sacrificed it on the left => you could easier penetrated it as it was angled only up/down and not also from right to left, as it is when you face Is-3 head on.

Next time I am going to close my eyes, fire gold and hope I am lucky, this aiming business seems too complicated
