Modding up! Empty Modding up!

Post  Brainfarter Tue Nov 05, 2013 9:21 pm

As 8.8 got launched I all of a sudden noticed I was filling my game with just oh so much crappy mods to tweak every aspect juuuust a little bit. Thing was, whenever I found a modpack it always just missed one little bit of info somewhere or something I would like to tweak a bit.

As 8.9 came out I tried to play vanilla, but I found out I missed information both inbattle as well as overview in garage.
With that knowledge, here are my mods prioritized.

Need to have:
Zoom-mod
XVM with map-mod (using xvm-updater also gives me jimbos crosshairs)
Crosshairs with reload-timer

Nice-to-have:
Garage carousel with great filters (found one that correlates to xvm and has tier/prem/doubles-filters)
Session stats

Pimp my game - not needed but for the bling of it:
Garage-clock
Coloured messages

What do you guys prioritize?

/B

J1mbos is always first on without a doubt,
radial chat menu as I play autoloaders and like to tell people when my reload is and how long they have to wait for my support in the vain hope they are listening
XVM, I only really want the map mod I have Aslains installed at the moment and find all the colours confusing, I am used to triangles and squares
zoom out I had on 8.8 but haven't installed it on 8.9 yet, I understand there is a zoom in mod as well

Tank Carousel and thats it.

Before I found XVM I use to mark enemy movements using paper and pencil, yes time consuming and hectic but gave me a good appreciation of how others play their tanks.

Given issues with XVM crashing WOT, I've uninstalled it and gone back to my old tried and tested method of pencil and paper

I use a ton of mods.
Aslains Mod Pack as base.
J1mbos even if there is a reload timer by default since 8.9
XVM Clan Icons (to see and greet SGTA comrades when met in randoms Wink ), XVM Tank Carousel
Locastans Mini Map
Locastans Statistics (Keeps track of the game day stat, silver, damage, etc)
Locastans UT Announcer (not for the double kill stuff but for the minutes left counter)
White Dead Tanks
Zoom in and Zoom out mods (has to be used with care may get confusing)
radial chat menu for reload info and sometimes for the lulz.
normally an info panel on enemy tanks but I did not found one so far that i really like

If necessary i can provide you the links when at home I have a list to speed up things after updates because I always make fresh installs to not run into troubles by just updating them.
After installing them and getting the mods working I change them only with the next update to prevent mod chaos which some might run into.
Also I customize this stuff a bit because there is much bullshit in the default radial chat config, some nice features of XVM need to be enabled custom and so on.

No mods, vanilla style all the time. My arty play time gives me time to grow up a habit to watch mini-map and know where enemy is/was, batman movie taught me to keep attention to my surroundings and experience to keep an eye on top tiers and especially on those in platoons.
Sometimes less information spares you of assumptions, which usually did not work well for me.

Just stumbled across this mod pack with customizable DLC.

Might be worth a look for those of use who use mods. Wink

- J1mbo's (reload timer, great ofc. Also to lazy to count by myself LoL)
- Locastans mini-Map (this one is great, especially when sniping in TD (draw distance), and sometimes blind firing)

And used XVM in the past, but it's bugged right now. Will install it when it's fixed (love to keep track of damage and sse how much time left to decap).
Still want to try out XVM stat. Just to see the dangerous opponents on the enemy team and see what friendly might cover my back.

BTW, this mod is it allowed or illigal? -> http://www.curse.com/wot-mods/worldoftanks/meltymapsmathmod

I use this version (Aslains mod pack): http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/35125-089-aslains-xvm-mod-v309-upd-05112013/#top
as a basic and installed my other mods after this (also locastans mods i dont know what you mean exactly because this guy seems pretty busy creating mods but I think it might be the HD map or battle statistics)

http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/95330-089-locastans-enh-hd-minimap-gen-2/
http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/177899-089-color-messages-and-session-stats/

It had never crashed for me so far. But i started with a complete new install of the WoT client.

Hiya,

I am not so confident with computers.
So what I have used is this link,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g_yls1AMyY&feature=c4-overview&list=UURsVye6jJb1Co2AQeOfFSIw

All what you need is there, at least for me.
And even better it is really easy Smile

maybe someone can explain how to disable the hitzone markers mod.Embarassed
I don't need it and it is kinda ugly.

Hi, It should be a folder called "vehicles" inside res_mods/0.8.9. You have to deleted to disable the hitzone zones.

I see that you are new to mods, as I'm using like 13 of them:

XVM, Session Stats, Colored msgs, damage panel, MeltyMaps cross(zoom in, X zoom, no scope shadow), Tank carousel, PogS 3.x Contour icon (lol mine mod), White dead tanks, real viewranges, sessions stats, custom hangar.

Not exactly new to them, I just hate to fu.. around with it over and over and over on patchday. Therefore I try to narrow it down to as few as possible to still enhance the game experience and not waste hours of frustration trying to get something semi-relevant to work.

Only the PogS 3.x contour icon of the list I havent tried - nice list btw.
