Survivalrate... how to optimize?

How do you optimize your survival-rate?
My performance is getting better, but I seem to still faulter at surviving. Actually it seems like its getting worse.

So here is the question of the day:

How do you optimize your survivalrate without compromizing your other stat-levers? (damage done / kpg etc.).

The main thing is hp conservation. Learn to trade favourably and try to keep hold of as much hp as you can until in the late game. Rolling into the late game with an hp advantage will also improve your winrate, so win/win.

Controlled aggression is the key here. Try not to make aggressive moves unless you know what you are getting into and how you are going to get out of it, if it turns bad. A famous example is A1 Murovanka. A strong position when your team is winning (or at least holding C2-3), but if your team is losing that hill you are trapped.

This. It is still the hardest thing to master for me.
Use your "Spider sense". When your gut feeling tells you that you're doing something stupid, don't do it. Sounds easy, is hard. Because behind that "stupid move" are so many red, juicy, XP-rich targets for you to kill! Must. Not. Succumb.

I know I fail at that bigtime, but here are my 2c.

Do not look at your hp as an indicator of how much "life" your tank has left.

Look at it as capital that you need to preserve as much as you can so you can use it when you really need it.

Example: Lategame you are down at 200 hp and this one TD is blocking your way to the enemybase. You are pinned

Same situation you are 1000+ hp, you go in, take a shot, sidehug the guy and finish him off. You preserved your capital, now you can spend it when it is needed the most

This also applies if you are to shield a teammate, thus preserving an extra gun for your team.

I now look at my hp like this and i tend to preserve it as much as I can, especially early in the game.

Try to be more patient, most players in this game are trying to be heroic but they do a lot of mistakes.

As to how to actually preserver your hp. I try to have rule that for every time I take a shot I need to either get a great tactical advantage or do twice as much damage. Sounds simple, but can be very hard to achieve sometimes.

My pro tip: shoot the red tenks, camp bushes, load gold.

Behemoth gave me a tip yesterday. Avoid the "but I did spot them" moments. I have quite a few of those.... Advancing is good, but take it easy. This together with strong map awareness and particularly avoiding arty hitzones can seriously prolong your life.

Tonight I will try to bring this in practice.

My Tip of the day is: "don't die so often!" muhaha - sorry I am sitting bored in the train :-) but i am sure it will help :-P

What i changed in December-January period was the philosophy in my play style, not minor things in technique like angling, hull-down, etc.
- So i NEVER expect support from my team, if i die because no friendly tank covered some corner-side then it's MY fault for getting that position and not my team's mistake. I prefer to support my teammates instead of hoping that they will support me.
- The second thing (implemented later) is that every single shell that it's flying towards my tank is a "gold shell" and it will penetrate me.

Basically you are just more paranoid? ;-)

There's an advanced calculation that can boost your survivalrate to crazy heights. It takes a little math skills, but when you master it, you will become near unkillable.
Goes like this.

You start off with your tanks HP. Lets say you have a heavy tank with 1200 HP. This is the basis for your calculation. We call it HP_Base
Now, the first time you get hit, you do the following formula: HP_New = HP_Base - HP-Hit.
For all next hits, the formula is HP_New = HP_New - HP_Hit.

The real magic in this formula is that you have to calculate it so that HP_New never falls below 1. It's a simple thing to say, but hard to master. When HP_New has reached a low value, stop taking any hits that might cause it to fall below 1.
Math = WIN.

There's no mod for that? Seems quite hard...
