As a collector, I have most tanks available, and am also collecting the premium tanks. Often I hear people complaining in the field about the "Löwe noobs". The Löwe is often very much misunderstood by people that buy it. So what are the advantages and weaknesses?

Pros and cons
+ very accurate gun
+ very hard turret and mantlet
+ penetration and damage are very decent.

- very slow...
- it is very big and not very sloped, making it easy to penetrate.
- reload is not very quick.
- Did I mention it is very slow?

Tactics
So... it is slow and easy to pen. What are good tactics then?

* Snipe!
* Do not hug big tanks in battle and distance is your friend.
* Try to keep your hull low. The turret is sloped and hard, the rest is soft and weak.
* Angle the front and you will be in for some serious damage dealing.
* Take a place where you have long lines of sight.
Not angling your front makes your transmission accessible and it will light up quick, like all German tanks.

Configuration
So which mods to take?
I prefer personally to have some items that help me with accuracy and loading speed.
* gun rammer
* vertical stabilizer
* ventilation
You can also invest in vision instead of the stabilizer, especially when sniping. The Lowe has a decent view range of 400m, so it is useful to think about that. Please keep in mind, that there are big blind spots, and tanks suddenly pop up.

Consumables:
* FIREEXTINGUISHER (Yes in capitals. For all German tanks, bring them.)
* repair kit
* first aid kit

I put the repair kit in the middle. You will want to move quickly when detracked in the open. This will allow you to spam 5 and move immediately.

Crew skills
What skills would you take when playing the Lowe?
I prefer a mix of perks and skills. I start with 2 perks:
Commander:
* Brothers in arms
* Repair
* Sixth sense
* Recon / Jack of all traits
* Firefighting

Gunner:
* Brothers in arms
* Repair
* Snap shot
* Eagle eye / Dead eye
* Firefighting

Driver
* Brothers in arms
* Repair
* Off-Road Driving
* Smooth Ride / Clutch Braking
* Firefighting

Radio Operator
* Brothers in arms
* Repair
* Signal Boosting
* Situational Awareness
* Firefighting

Loader
* Brothers in arms
* Repair
* Safe Stowage
* Adrenaline Rush / Intuition
* Firefighting
As Vallu rightfully said: you can put any Germany officer from a heavy tank in the Löwe, to train them. Train them as required for their specific tank, not for Löwe!

I just hope you do not really start research repair as the forth skill. =)

heheh, no. BiA is the first I have. Then repair, now I will go for the other perks (using firefighting as a levelling skill). I did not put them in order indeed Wink.

Löwe is a premium tank and so you can use other German heavies crew in it without penalties. This is why I would recommend choosing the skills for the other tank and not the Löwe. But no matter the tank I would always go for repairs first, immobile German heavy is a dead heavy. After reaching 100% I would switch Commander to Sixth sense and start repairs again. Then I like to get the most of my gun so Snap shot for Gunner and Smooth ride for Driver, Situational awareness for Radio operator. For Loader you could switch repairs for Safe stowage and repairs, or just leave repairs and take whatever you want.

Thanks for that feedback Vallu. That is indeed how I trained them. I also added this point to the general section of this forum!
