what is the best to do ?

I think we all have seen it.
10 people going one flank leaving 2 arties on base.
2 others do a suicide scout or vanish by other means.
that leaves you !!
what do you think would be best ?

A: Join the crowd, make sure that they keep moving and hopefully cap the game out. This way you might get some damage points and there is a good chance that you survive the match.

B: Defend the lonely flank , in my experience this is almost useless. I usually get 2 maybe 3 shots and then roffelstomped. (Might be my skill, ).

C: Hang around your base. Snipe a bit and try and reset the cap if the opportunity arises.

These are the 3 things that I have tried but is there maybe something else I can do ? What you you guys do when you find yourself in this situation?

Go with the herd, Staying alive and causing as much damage as possible is the key to better stats.

I think that might be the best option as well.
But it goes against the grain to leave a flank open. It feels so exposed

But if the game goes south anyway the best is to take grab as much experience as you can .

Go with the lemming train.

1 defender is essentially the same as no defender if the enemy has any more than 2 tanks pushing that flank. Unless you are in SUCH a favourable position you can sidescrap your way (and pray they are not smart enough to rush you), you should go with lemming.

In my experience, staying in the lone flank in this situation can be excusable in 2 cases:

1) You have reason to believe there is only 2 or 1 tank coming that flank (probably be looking at how many enemy tanks there is on the lemming flank).

2) You are in such a favourable position you think you can hold out.

When in doubt, go with lemming.

It's not really about the exp, to be honest leaving a flank completely open is not always a sure determinant of defeat. Sometimes you enemy IS that dumb not to push and kjust camp, in which case your lemming flank might actually make it.

Probability of victory going with lemming > probability of victory stay on exposed flank or base.

Not necessarily better than A but still an option depending on the map:

D: Scouting the loosing flank while avoiding fire in first priority, hopefully leading fire of arty and further guns in range to the approaching targets. Of course requires a mobile enough tank and sufficient cover.

If the team lemmings I will always go and defend the open flank.

I get stomped then I die hard and delay them long enough to hope for a cap win and our arty survives to be of some use.

If I hold it all the better and maybe I can even attack, on one occasion this weekend I got invader medal in my GW Typ E by going TD mode

Leaving a flank open and joining the lemming traffic jam is never an option for me tbh.

ive asked this on the WoT forum recently and they all agree with the above, go with the lemming train. Lemming trains can and often do work, the ones that fail are the ones when they all stop because of a couple of enemy tanks. When this happens, try and push and keep the train moving.
I now do this, unless im in a fast or light scout tank, in which case ill try and find the enemy on the open flank and quickly get the hell out of it.

I usually go where I think I can play my tank well ... like with US heavis in hills or with soviet IS-line to flat area or city. Because there I know, even if overrun, I will use my tank capabilities, which on some maps is with lemmings on some a lone suicide defender. If you play alone in randoms, better play it your way then to adjust to bunch of strange people.

I get that the lemming rush might work if nobody stops, but taking into consideration how many people stop in organised attacks during our TC's what's the likelihood of one of the lead tanks in unplanned braindead rush in randoms not getting hit and slowing the slower toughter heavies down with their burning wrecks? I've got to go with the odds of a failure being pretty high!
