T71 Ace tanker [passive scout] 2290xp
Heres a replay from the weekend, 2290XP (no double), my highest ever XP so far after scoring 11500 spotting damage. Great teams are needed to be a successful scout I think, and this was a great team. I still dont consider myself a good scout but im trying. Passive scouting is the easiest of course.
I started off racing to a pretty well known bush but getting there quick is crucial and i spawned too far to make it. I lost a lot of my HP in the first moments so had to switch my location. Notice how close the enemy get occasionally, but with camo net, camo paint and my crew on 100% camo and commander on 100% sixth sense im pretty stealth. I try and use the landscape to my advantage to keep out of line of sight. Whenever I get spotted, a quick 6-8s drive and back again, but maybe 10m away from my spot is normally all thats required. Any how, quite boring to watch no doubt but quite exciting to play.
The only shots I took are near the end of the battle when I knew my cover wouldnt be blown
1 kill
2290XP
81054 credits
177 damgage dealt
Tank: T71
Map: Prokhorovka

Re: T71 Ace tanker [passive scout] 2290xp
andy, could I use this replay to make a video out of it?
Or you want to keep it for yourself or even send it to the more well-known guys of course.
Which is totally fine by me.

Of course you can, what do you mean by sending it to one of the more well known guys??. My gameplay is by no means perfect, but it does show whats possible with a good team.

Some guys prefer to send it to HighFlyer15 or Jingles to show it to more guys.
But I really like the teamplay and thank you for letting me use it

gotcha, the guys you mention have taught me so so much...along with SGTA and Vallu's video's of course.
If only all teams where as good as this one.
OOI, Ive got a replay where I drag my 8yr old son into a T10 battle, im in my T34, he's in a T50. I fail massively whereas my son races off, totally fearless, to search out the 5 enemy arty, (the map with the swamp in the middle). A friendly batchat spot's his advance and takes chase to support him. 2 minutes into the game and the enemy have lost all of the arty, 3 by batchat, 2 by my son. The enemy simply collapses at this point, the response from our team to my son was epic.

That's a really good example of passive scouting. Thank you for sharing.

One thing I meant to ask, does camo paint the stuff you buy with gold have an effect, I didn't see a camo net or bino's on there either.

Hi there,
Thanks for putting the replay up, i like your commentary too.
Camo paint, as said it adds 5% to your camo value but you must bear in mind, if a tank has great camo value...a 5% addition is good, if your tank has a low camo value, 5% of nothing is nothing... dont put camo on a Maus

hiya,
wow Andy that was fantastic gameplay of you. I must admire your resolve not to shoot .How did you feel at 13:00 when those heavies were so close by?
I think you did not knock a single tree over in the entire game and giving away your position.
We all can learn a great deal from this.
thanks for sharing

That comes from the countless times ive thought to myself 'just one shot wont hurt', immediatley followed by getting 'one shotted' myself ... lesson learnt. Also, in the replay, you notice me aiming at a few tanks, this wasnt to take a shot, this was so i could check the distance away the tanks actually where (jimbo's reticle mod shows you the distance quite clearly btw). less than 50m and no camouflage will help you, a dead scout is a bad scout. If id have taken the easy shots i had, i could have died and all for maybe 100hp, simply not worth it to the team.flash64 wrote:hiya,

I was always a pussy when tanks came too close..... recently my son asked me to go in a training room so i could pass on some scouting tips (just after i attended the SGTA scouting course. Any how, we spawned in opposite sides of the map, me in a type 62, max in a T50. I couldnt believe how close he got before spotting me. We tried in a few different tanks, this gave me the confidence to stay put when passive scouting even when unbelievably close. Now i have 6th sense on most of my crews, the pressure is off a little too.How did you feel at 13:00 when those heavies were so close by?
Down that road, in a heavy or arty, thats what im looking out for all of the time, its a total give away. Saying that, sometimes in a heavy, ill use a 'dummy' whereas ill reverse into a tree and then move forward. Monty uses the same trick in his arty, he said in another thread.
I think you did not knock a single tree over in the entire game and giving away your position.

Your welcome, and believe me, this was a special game, most either end in disaster or in the the top 3 XP.
