Leopard 1 Guide
Hello and welcome to the Leopard 1, one of the most powerful German tier 10 medium tanks. It is one of the premier fast, paper-armoured snipers in the game.
Tank specs:
Upgrade tree:
Overview:
The Leopard 1 is one of the Tier 10 vehicles that come fully elite and does not have upgrades. This means that the only way to push the vehicle past its stated stats will be the usage of crew skills, consumables and equipment.
The Leopard 1, like its predecessor, the Leopard PT A is a large vehicle, though still slightly smaller than the other equivalent German medium, the E-50M. Just like the its tier 9 version, the Leo seems to take large amounts of module damage. View range is improved and is now even more impressive. Gun depression has taken a massive overhaul and is now quite good, allowing for a more effective use of hilly terrain. The tier 10 leo also has a turret with a more effective shape... though this does not matter for it is still paper .
Speaking of which, its amour is pretty much useless. Hull front can bounce a shot only under extreme angles, but side and rear are so weak they can be overmatched and penetrated no matter the angle, making the sidescraper tactic nearly useless. It is also extremely prone to getting obliterated by high-end artillery rounds.
Mobility is quite good. Top speed is very impressive, the tank is agile and has the pivot turn ability. Hill climbing and acceleration are good, so in essence battlefield maneuverability is the vehicle's true armour.
The gun is simply outstanding. It's DPM is not the greatest, but it is quite good still. It is laser-like when it comes down to accuracy and the penetration is impressive. Gun depression is vastly improved since the PT A and really helps the Leo in using this excellent piece of death-dealing equipment. Only real downside to the L7A3 is its accuracy on the move. It is not unusable, but it is most certainly not a something in whcih the Leo es very good at.
Overall, the Leopard 1 is a squishy and vulnerable sniping vehicle, almost as much as a bat chat (though a bigger target). It has great hill-fighting capabilities, though the turret is very weak. Thankfully, good view range, great mobility and an awesome cannon make up for its shortcomings, but it is definitely a demanding vehicle to play.
Price: 6 100 000
Camouflage: Average
Gun Elevation: -9°/+22°
Pros:
- Outstanding accuracy, aim time and shell velocity.
- Very good gun depression.
- Great DPM.
- Excellent mobility.
Cons:
- Big for a medium tank.
- Camouflage could have been better.
- Paper armour.
- Vulnerable to artillery and module damage
Designation:
1.Warrior 2. Medium Support Tank 3. Sniper 4. Flanker
The Leopard 1 can be an excellent offensive or defensive tank and the proper equipment can help it shine.
Direct Engagement Leopard 1: Ramer; Vertical Stabilizer; Ventilation
Scouting Medium Leopard 1: Coated Optics; Ramer; Ventilation/ Camouflage Net
Crew:

Crew skills (only an example, up to 4th skill):
Modules:
Hull:
Armor scheme currently in use: * Or at least should be, Mantlet is only 65 as of now*
Hull armour is pathetic. Frontally, the Leopard has about 122mm of armour, which is pathetic for a tier 10 vehicle. Only time it can bounce is at absurd angles because overmatching it completely requires a 210 mm gun, and most tanks do not posses such weapons.
Side and rear are even worse though. Both are incredibly thin and even 105mm guns can achieve overmatch and pass through the armour no matter the angle making the sidescraper maneuver extremely ineffective.
Suspension:
Leopard 1 / Max.capacity 42.00 / Turn speed 54 deg per sec.
It’s actually quite decent. Can carry all the Leopard 1 needs and does turn quickly.
Engine:
MTU MB 838 CaM 500 / 830 horse power / 10% chance of fire
Engine is pretty much the same as the one on the tier 9 Leopard PT A, but the vehicle is a little heavier. Overall, mobility is still great, but it is slightly worse than the its predecessor.
Radio:
10WSc - 720meters
A good tier 10 radio.
Turrets:
Leopard 1
Armor: 52/60/60
Rotation: 36 degrees/second
View range: 410m
Turret is wet paper. Front may sound mega-weak, but the mantlet(65mm thick) acts as spaced armour and is quite big, making it the hardest part of the the tank… but it is still nothing at tier 10. Still, if sloped, bounces are possible.
Side and rear are at least out of the auto-penetration range for guns with a diameter of less than 180, but apart from that (very small) comforting fact they might as well be the leather jacket from STALKER.
Guns:
105mm Royal Ordnance BordKanone L7A3
RoF: 6,67
Penetration: 268/350/53
Average damage: 390/390/480
Accuracy (100m): 0,3
Aim time: 1,9 sec
This cannon is just awesome. One of the most accurate guns in the game, it stands out with good aim time, great penetration, good stopping power and satisfying DPM. The velocity of the Royal Ordnance appears to be quite good, meaning little to no leading of targets is required.
Gold ammo is HEAT, which . With 350mm of penetration, it can go through almost every tank in the game
Comparison with its peers:
Leopard 1 vs E-50M
Leopard 1 has much worse armour than the E-50M. It also seems to be more prone to module damage and can not ram nearly as well (or at all I should say). However, it has superior DPM, gun depression and mobility.
Leopard 1 vs 121
121's armour is much better than that of the German vehicle. It also deals more damage per shot. However, the Leo has much better gun depression than the Chinese, is more accurate and is faster and more agile.
Leopard 1 vs Bat Chat 25t
The Leopard has slightly better overall protection when compared to the Bat Chat. The German also has better gun depression, a more accurate and faster aiming gun with more penetration. Still, Batman has a gun with an autoloader and is slightly faster and more maneuverable.
Leopard 1 vs M48 Patton
The M48 has superior protection. They both have the same amount of gun depression, though the Leo does not have a tumor weak spot on its turret (then again, its entire turret can be a weak spot). M48 is slower but is more accurate on the move.
Leopard 1 vs T-62A
The T-62A has better armour than the Leopard, especially on the turret. It also has better DPM and is a smaller target. It is more maneuverable, but slower and does not go as fast as the Leopard 1. However the German tank has superior gun depression and damage per shot.
Historical Leopard 1
The Leopard (or Leopard 1) is a main battle tank designed and produced in West Germany that first entered service in 1965. Developed in an era when HEAT warheads were thought to make conventional heavy armour of limited value, the Leopard focused on firepower in the form of the German-built version of the British L7 105-mm gun, and improved cross-country performance that was unmatched by other designs of the era.
The design started as a collaborative project between Germany and France in the 1950s, but the partnership ended and the final design was ordered by the Bundeswehr, production starting in 1965. In total 6,485 Leopard tanks have been built, of which 4,744 were battle tanks and 1741 were utility and anti-aircraft variants, not including eighty prototypes and pre-series vehicles.
The Leopard quickly became a standard of European forces, and eventually served as the main battle tank in over a dozen countries worldwide. Since 1990, the Leopard 1 has gradually been relegated to secondary roles in most armies.

- Spoiler:
Commander: Sixth Sense --> BIA --> Repair --> Recon/Mentor
Gunner: Snap Shot --> BIA --> Repair --> Designated Target
Driver: Smooth Ride --> BiA --> Repair -->
Loader: Safe Storage --> BiA --> Repair --> Adrenaline Rush
A nice trick is to always keep repair as current skill and when reaching 100 to retrain it to some other skill or perk. Thats what I do. If you don't have the gold, or the credits and patience, feel free to put repair as first or second skill.
