what is overmatch ?
Hiya,
Can somebody explain to me what overmatch exactly is.
I am not sure but i think that it is the partypooper for sidescraping.

Re: what is overmatch ?
Hiya ,
Thanks that was what i was looking for .
Not so long ago I sidescaped against KV-1S with my Cromwell.
Cromwell sidearmour is 32 mm and KV-1S has a 122 mm cannon.
copied from the wiki:
If the AP or APCR shell caliber is 3 times or more than the nominal thickness of the armour (such as a 120mm shell hitting a 40mm thick plate), no ricochet will happen even if the impact angle is more than 70° from normal
Quote from the wiki
It did not end very well i must admit Now i know why, thanks again

Re: what is overmatch ?
Well I love my Cromwell but in case of engaging a KV-1s I would not try to sidescrape against him. Use the speed flank him, circle him if possible after he fired and stay away from that gun but not trade shots with him even if theoretically the Cromwell out DPM's the KV-1s (122m KV-1s DPM: 1462,5 against 2076,3 DPM of the Cromwell with the 75 mm Vickers HV with 100% crew but without rammer or any perks)

Hiya,
Yeah it was on Pearl River , on the narrow paths on the 1,2,and 3 lines.
That KV-1S just popped up and in my panic I quickly sidescraped looking for a moment to hightail it out of there.
(actually, I initially was quite happy with my cleverness) I just wondered why it did not work out.
