A lot of tanks have spare tracks hanging off it.
The tiger has some tracks hanging from its LFP ,the new LTP has a strip on its UPF, ect,ect.

Does this actually increase the armour thickness on those spots, or maybe even works as spaced armour?
Or is it just to make the model look good ?

Anybody knows something about this ?

No it does not. Tracks are merely decorative textures. Ironically many weakspots are behind "hanging' tracks. Tiger is one example. The pieces of tracks hanging on the front of the IS3 are actually aiming aids to me, since it is the easiest point to penetrate when the armor plate is perpendicular to your gun.

On the other hand what has spaced armour is the gun mantlets and you can use them to eat many many shells (Lowe hulldown is OP as hell due to it's huge gun mantlet).

Thanks Sapaki, i often wondered about that and intentionally " missing " the tracks on the front of the IS-3.
I will use them as aiming aids now as well.

Any spare tracks, boxes, tools, exhaust pipes etc. are no-hitboxes they have no effect on shells (shells go through them into to the tank or air).

Any viewports, rangefinders, machine gun ports etc. are extra armour plates are extra armour (in some cases spaced armour) or weakspots. It depends from tank to tank. Tiger hull viewport has extra armour on the sides (and it's angled), but the middle is a weakspot. T29 rangefinders only damage the viewport module and do no damage to hp (unless HE is used). PzIVS sideskirts are no-hitboxes although you might think they would be spaced armour. Very dependent on the tank.
