Tank Company Night returns!
TC TC TC TC TC TC!!! returns on 16th of March on 19.00 UTC, with me, Vallu, commanding and hopefully some volunteers also
This will be Medium TC. Preferred tanks will be; KV-1S, VK3601H, T-150, Hellcat, T-50 and Grille. Some others are okey also, but these are preferred. They also need to have 100% crew, fully upgraded, with consumables and hopefully with equipment.
TS will be required for comms.
Please read TC rules also.
Hopefully we can make this a weekly thing.
Update Time updated to 18.00 UTC (Forum clock) due to DST.

I'll be there, I've got TOGII, Churchill VII and Grille ready to go but if none of these are any good let me know and I'll get a T150 and grind the crew to 100% tonight!

Re: Tank Company Night returns!
Sounds good.. I reckon I can make it on saturday. Got a VK3601(H), KV-1S and Hellcat. All have 100% crew, the VK and KV-1S have one skill (repairs on both cases) and about half way there on the second. Hellcat is at about 80% of the first skill so no sixth sense yet . The three tanks have equipment on them as they are keepers for me..
Also have a T-50 but I don't think I'm nearly good enough with it to be of much use atm.

ARL is okeyish and AMX is the best choice for arty after Grille.

Why is ARL 44 just okeyish? Can you elaborate the reasons for me?

Re: Tank Company Night returns!
Mostly because of lower alpha than KV-1S while still having poorer accuracy/aim time than VK3601H, depending on the gun. Every t6 heavy is ok for TC, but KV-1S is the preferred tank.

Grille is good. SU-5 too little damage and range. Churchill 7 too little alpha and too slow, armour not good enough to bounce KV-1S reliably.

Re: Tank Company Night returns!
Question on the KV-1S. Is it better to have the 85mm or the 122mm gun in TC? The 122 does more damage per hit, but reloads quite slow, while the 85 reloads faster and does less per hit...
Re: Tank Company Night returns!
122mm!!! That's the reason why KV-1S is the preferred tank for TC. 3 KV-1S can kill any tank they face with one volley, except the TOG 2. And when you have 8 KV-1S running around the map with 390 alpha ...well you get the idea.

Re: Tank Company Night returns!
I would say 122, for the raw damage. Load time can be mitigated with a rammer and to a lesser extent crew with bia.
Others agree?

Here's a question for you, as an arty player I often wonder why the grille is insisted upon for Medium TCs.
Sure, its insanely OP with gold shells, but has low ammo capacity and IMHO aint that accurate (due to smaller firing arc)
personally, I would like to take Priest for a Medium TC, as you can pack a few HEAT shells for heavily armoured enemies and use HE for the rest. having such a huge ammo capacity is very useful, especially in longer games.

122mm is the way to go
122mm is the way to go. You will have troubles penetrating enemy KV-1s's frontally even with premium shells with 85mm and 161 penetration on premium shells, thus making your DPM even lower if you do 1-2 non damaging shots.SteelToedSneakers wrote:Question on the KV-1S. One of the great things with KV-1S's is the focus fire burst, 2-3 shots shall knock out at least one enemy, thus the tactics are often used around this focus fire burst potential.
Drop me an invite if you run your TC next time, it's been a while now since my last med TC with SGTA :-)

Re: Tank Company Night returns!
A combination of annoying weakspots and burst is the key. The 122mm especially with gold would have no real problems penetrating anything at that tier, and when you travel in a group, you'd get enough time to aim in on the enemy. Even if your front KV-1S gets taken out by faster aimtime guns, your teammates can still volley the junk out of the enemy. So you get this issue that both teams will most likely spam KV-1S, as those tanks work well in groups wheras slow tanks with low alpha hardly work together, and even the SU-100Y, even though it has a better gun, it's too cumbersome and non-flexible to play in group strategies.

Again, alpha damage and penetration. You will be able to pen KV-1S more easily than with Priest and you do more dmg. Reload or ammo capacity doesn't matter as much, as you won't have the change to spend all you ammo. Fewer enemies and they hide behind arty cover most of the time. Arty needs a big punch for the couple of shots they get. And talking about gold ammo, which is APCR, Priest loses damage with getting only 350 dmg and 150 pen. While Grille doesn't lose damage and gets 680 damage and 228 pen.
If you want more accurate and faster firing, AMX is the way to go.
Somebody who has more experience with t4 arty and playing arty in TC can explain. I'm no arty player .

Re: Tank Company Night returns!
On the ARL44 - the 90mm F3 gun is the one to use in TCs, it has adequate pen and a better rate of fire than either of the two top guns (the long 90mm and the 105mm). The DCA 30 is also a possibility, with a slightly better ROF and a much better aim time, but I suspect you'd have to be throwing prem shells around, or at least have a good stock of them to hand.
I'll try and be there, I've got a fully pimped VK3601 (also an ARL44, a KV-2 and a T-50, should those be preferrable).

Well I'm sure I'll find out when I play my first SGTA TC, but I'm a veteran arty player I can tell you that I believe the priest is a much better arty than the grille. Not every team you meet in TC will be a pro and with 60+ ammo you can afford a few shots into likely camping spots.
Oh, and premium ammo for the Grille and Priest isnt APCR, it's HEAT which is a big lottery due to massive amount of zero damage shots.
