I would add a battle of my first tc I have attended at all. Half of the time nothing happend but weird trash-talk about cookies in the chat. The enemy team didn't dare to say anything the whole time except for one guy saying "Silence, you will die" (as response he was offered to get some cookies in our base). After half of the battle time passed it took 3-4 minutes and the enemy team was eaten 8:0 ... Basketball

Happy birthday SGTA and a good opportunity to say thanks to all the people who keep the thing running.

And now let's try 8888.

The answer to everything is 42 Harald! (I love your references btw...)

After thorough analysis and deep studies of our "flounder's" psyche, I can confirm that the number is 9999.

Now gimme prize! Razz

Oh and as for the memories, I might post a reply when I have a little bit more time because I have to run now...

That's numberwang!

Wait, that is what we're playing, right? *Reads topic post* Hmmm. Okay. Maybe not.

All I can say is, if it's been a year, and you're (mostly) all still talking to each other, you must be doing something right. I'm sure there will be a few years to come, there's certainly as much if not more need for that SGTA has to offer than when you started out.

And, without further ado, I shall also present my guess:

Mornington Crescent.

The 1982 Berkshire Classic All-County MC Committee Rules (3rd Revision, 9th Edition), of course - you know, the ones that had the hilarious mis-print on page 382, where it said "flunting" instead of "flamping". Ahh, that one's a classic, we like to laugh about that one frequently at all the MC parties I go to.

Ding, I know what I'm doing. Morning Crescent is all about the deep strategy, you see; it's like Go, only far less simple. Wink

Ah, well, you see, on the face of it it makes no sense to make my guess when the contest is all about numbers, but you see I'm applying some serious lateral thinking here. Also perhaps I don't really want to win. Wink

Oh wow BoosB...

4 is actually the number for the worst luck in Chinese...people avoid it like the plague.

Because the pronunciation for 4 in Chinese is very close to the pronunciation for that of the word 'death'. You will never see car licence plates with the number 4 and in some apartment block they remove the number 4 from elevators... so you have floor 3 and then floor 5. Floor 5 is just essentially floor 4.

But you already made your pick ...no going back now XD
eehr. Oops. I knew it was one of the both. Guess I guessed wrong. Razz well, chosen is chosen indeed. Maybe you are like me and don't believe in these things and actually therefore like the unlucky numbers.

Post  EUROBrit Wed May 01, 2013 11:15 pm

The View from the the Office.

As I sit in my WWII concrete hardened bunker (known as the computer desk in RL) I gaze out at the flowers beginning to bloom it reminds me summer is indeed almost here and the warmth of that sun allows my mind to drift. . . .

"A Tank game?" said Brit to his older, wiser brother, skoogy. "How can that be any good?"

Well it was good and soon enough I had discarded my flying jacket and invested in a Virtual Tankers Outfit*. The game though, proved hard. Kills were mostly accidental or fortunate and the differences between the combat aviation I was used to and this new fangled ground warfare were many fold and immense. I needed help.

I came across Ding760 and began quizzing him as to how to progress within the game. For several nights I showed up at the allotted time and indeed learned many things. Differences apart, I was starting to enjoy the games more, and I dare say, Ding enjoyed my tales of derring-do in the combat aviation world, which included running a virtual Squadron (EURO) and publishing an on line magazine which was eventually bought by the Mighty Satan (Microsoft).

"I'm going to form a school for tankers" said Ding one night.

"Excellent" I replied. It is at this point that the phrase "In a plane I'm a Legend - in a tank I'm a leg end" was born.

Later on the same evening, Ding took me aside and told me "I've set up the Clan, we already had several members/instructors and a website in the offing, you'll be the Commander, and we'll have a great forum too".

Now like me, you probably missed the most important part of that sentence.

"Erm... you want me, the actual definition of a noob, to command 100 tankers, everyone of whom is more experienced than me?" I replied, convinced I had misunderstood.

His thinking was actually quite sound; I had experience of Command, I understood the need for tactics and the command structure and possibly most importantly, was used to administrating the needs of hundreds of gamers, albeit in the air rather than on the ground.

So there I was, in a short time, in Command of a full Academy. My predicament was the instigation of many a humorous occasion, some of which have been referenced herein - "Fast food & Religion" and of course "Vlokke".

In many a Platoon in the early days, those unfamiliar with my ability would say "OK Commander, plans?". Not an unreasonable request normally, but I was usually figuring out how to stop my tank destroyer turning in circles whilst I looked around outside or swiftly driving to the nearest bush for cover, since I had been advised to "stay in cover" at the beginning of a game. I never gave up on those bushes.

And here we are, already a year older - and definitely wiser. We have a respected institution within the game and this is the greatest reward. Knowledge is power, Gentleman, and the pursuit of it is life itself.

All humour aside, I am proud to be associated with this venture and the people who make it happen - that is - you.

@Ding - 88

thanks for bringing back those memories, EUROBrit Very Happy

Ow, I do remember the start Smile. I was stuck myself, not know how I could improve. I was really a below average player, getting shouted against for being a n00b and I just did not know how to improve. Ding came up with the idea and I actually think I was the second to support the idea.

2 months later, the clan was there, and I think I actually was in the first draft. Winrate went up with 4% and I am still learning each day. I made a lot of friends here, and I still enjoy this clan a lot. I always wanted to be part of this and look at me now! Getting ready to instruct!

thanks for having the confidence in me back then and now Smile

I think it has to be said ignorance is a weapon.... a weapon of mass luck... despite his totally illogical reasoning for his choice...somehow BoosB managed to hit the spot in a 1/10000 chance.

For the number I had in mind was exactly 4444...................

My favourite number is 4 (I only learned the death resemblance later on in life). Cloned by the same amount of times as itself, which makes 4444.

You should try playing the lotto sometime BoosB Razz

Anyways, gold has been sent. Take a screenshot of you accepting the gold and post as reply here will ya?
